During a routine inspection
We found that care records were comprehensive and provided staff with clear information on how best to support people to maintain their independence.
We saw evidence that the provider had systems in place to ensure that complaints were managed effectively and all accidents and incidents were reviewed and monitored regularly. However, we found that the provider did not have an effective system to identify, assess and manage risks to the health, safety and welfare of staff, visitors and people who use the service.
We found that a lack of protocols to guide staff on when to administer 'as required' medicines meant that the provider could not ensure that people were protected from the risks associated with the unsafe use and management of medicines.

During a routine inspection
A relative confirmed that peoples' independence was encouraged and said that their family member was 'very happy there'. All of the people we spoke with told us that they have keys to their rooms. They told us that this helped them to maintain privacy. One person we spoke with told us that they had a safe in their room to keep their valuables safe.
