Our view of the service
Abbamoor Surgery is a GP practice located in Romford, Essex, registered to deliver the regulated activities: diagnostic and screening procedures, maternity and midwifery services and treatment of disease, disorder or injury. We carried out an assessment between 20 and 23 February 2024. The assessment included an onsite visit, and a remote assessment that included interviews with staff and clinical searches on the practice’s patient records system. Prior to the assessment we requested evidence from the practice. We have not previously rated this service. This assessment did not cover all parts of our Single Assessment Framework, therefore we have only updated scores and ratings for those areas which we have assessed. We will carry out future assessments to cover other parts of the Framework and will update our website with our findings. We found the provider reviewed incidents and complaints and appropriately investigated and recorded actions taken. Medicines management reflected current and relevant best practice and professional guidance. Patient’s medicines were appropriately prescribed. Patient’s needs were assessed using a range of assessment tools to ensure their needs were reflected and understood. There were effective approaches to monitor patient’s care and treatment and their outcomes. Patients could access services when they needed to, without physical or digital barriers. Leaders and staff were alert to experiences and outcomes that could disadvantage different groups of people using their services. There were clear governance, management, and accountability arrangements in place.
People's experience of this service
Patients were positive about their care and treatment. Indicators in the National GP Patient Survey published in 2023 showed in most areas the provider was performing higher than the national average. The practice had scored higher than their North East London ICS average in every people’s experience question. The National GP Patient Survey carried out between January and April 2023, found 99% of people stated the healthcare professional was good at listening to them, and 99% of people stated they were involved as much as they wanted to be in decisions about their care and treatment. In addition, 99.4 % of people had confidence and trust in the health care professional they saw or spoke to and 96% of people responded positively to the overall experience of their GP practice. The practice reviewed feedback from the national patient survey and where possible acted on comments or suggestions made. Any complaints were used to improve practice and procedures. There was an active Patient Participation Group, however they told us the practice had not always acted on feedback in a timely way.
