Our view of the service

Roebuck Nursing Home is a residential care home providing accommodation, with nursing and/or personal care. This was the first assessment carried out under our single assessment framework. This assessment was unannounced. Assessment activity started on 23 May and ended on 13 June 2024. We visited the service on 23 May 2024. We looked at a total of 28 quality statements from the safe, effective, responsive and well led key questions. At our last inspection (report published 17 December 2021) we found breaches in regulation and rated the service Requires Improvement. At this assessment we found widespread improvements had been made including areas related to risk management and governance. The provider is no longer in breach of regulation and the service is now rated Good. People were supported as individuals. Preferences and choices were respected, and people were involved in decisions about all aspects of their care. This was reflected in care plans and associated records. People’s needs were thoroughly assessed. Risks to people’s health, wellbeing and safety were identified with actions to be taken to mitigate them clearly documented. Frequent reviews, with the involvement of health and social care professionals where appropriate, ensured that plans of care remained accurate and up to date. The provider had a robust quality assurance system in place. Feedback was actively sought and acted upon by the registered manager. There was an open and transparent culture at the service, where complaints and any untoward events were used as learning opportunities. All learning and outcomes of checks and audits were shared with the staff team. Staff were recruited safely and supported in their roles via training and supervision. They were deployed in sufficient numbers with management and senior staff also being a visible presence in the service.
