Teignbridge House is a residential care home registered for 24 people. There were 19 people living at the home at the time of our site visits. The assessment took place between 11 and 23 April 2024. At the inspection in May 2023 the service was rated Inadequate with breaches in safe care and treatment, need for consent, person centred care, staffing, safeguarding and good governance. At this time, we commenced enforcement action. We inspected the service again in November 2024 to follow up on these breaches and the service was rated Requires Improvement with breaches in safe care and treatment, person centred care, need for consent, staffing, safeguarding and good governance. At this inspection in April 2024 there had been significant improvements, and we rated the service Good with no breaches. We discussed our findings with our legal team and the local authority and have withdrawn the enforcement action. We assessed 26 Quality Statements. During the site visits we checked 5 people’s medicines records and looked at arrangements for administering, storing and managing medicines. We spoke to 13 people and two relatives on site as well as 8 staff including care workers, the activity co-ordinator, cook, two deputy managers, provider/registered manager and the director of the company the provider had sourced to support with management and quality assurance. We spoke to one health professional on site. We received feedback via email from a further two staff and three relatives. All responses were positive. We also observed the care and support provided to people over two days including lunchtimes. We found good outcomes for people living at the service in all the areas we assessed and have rated Well Led as Requires Improvement to allow time for the improvements to embed. The provider demonstrated improvements that have been made. The service is no longer rated as inadequate overall or in any of the key questions. Therefore, this service is no longer in Special Measures.
