Condition of this registration relating to carrying out this regulated activity
The registered provider must within 30 days of this notice taking effect arrange for a suitably qualified, trained, skilled and competent person to oversee the medicines management at Derby Lodge.
The registered provider must submit to the Care Quality Commission within 90 days of this notice taking effect a copy of a written record of medicines training undertaken by the manager and staff and must include the date of training, nature of training, name of training provider, and post-training competence checks.
You must submit to us on the first Monday of every month an audit of the previous month’s medicines administration. The audit must include:
Assurance the home’s produced and computer-generated Medicine Administration Records (MAR) are accurate and include all relevant information including; name, strength and dose of the medicine and include any warnings. The person producing the MARs, and a second person checking the accuracy must be identified.
Assurance the MARs include all medicines prescribed for people including any medicines administered by other people for example district nurses.
Assurance of an accurate and suitable process for the recording of thickeners added to people’s fluids and food.
Assurance of stock management to ensure adequate supplies of medicines are available to administer and recorded appropriately; including receipt of medicines, quantities carried forward and disposed of to ensure all medicines are accounted for.
Assurance the application and use of external medicines for example topical preparations are recorded accurately.
Ensure allergies are appropriately recorded on all MARs.
Terms of this registration relating to carrying out this regulated activity
The Registered Provider must not provide nursing care under accommodation for persons who require nursing or personal care at Derby Lodge.
The Registered Provider must only accommodate a maximum of 23 service users at Derby Lodge.
