People living at the home had limited communication skills. We included some resident's comments where they were able to make them and spent a portion of our visit observing the care provided and interaction between staff and residents.People who use the service enjoy living at the home and feel that their privacy and dignity are respected. The service recognises the diverse cultural backgrounds of people using the service and promotes contact with their family and friends.
People who use the service are supported to engage in a range of community activities that reflect their interests and abilities. Staff demonstrated a good understanding of the ways different people communicated and sought their consent before supporting them. People who use the service had individual plans that reflected their needs and were regularly updated.
A range of varied and nutritious meals were provided that reflect different peoples preferences. The provider has developed good links with other professionals and agencies to promote the wellbeing of people using the service. The home has sound medication practises.
The home is clean and hygienic, but would benefit from a programme of redecoration and updating. The homes portable appliance electrical certificate had expired and had not been renewed.
The home has sound recruitment practises, and staff are employed in sufficient numbers. However, some staff had not completed any training in the last two years.
The provider listens to people who use the service and keeps them safe.
