During a routine inspection
We looked at other information to see what people thought about the care and support they received. We saw from the last 'residents survey' from 2012, the majority of people that responded said they were happy living in the home and satisfied with the standard of care.
We observed from people's individual records their care and support needs had been assessed and support plans were in place to meet these needs. People had been given opportunities to express their specific choices and preferences for how they were looked after. People we spoke with confirmed their choices and preferences were respected and supported by staff. Staff carried out regular checks and assessments to identify any potential risks to people's health, safety and wellbeing. Where risks or concerns were identified there were appropriate action plans in place to prevent or manage these. From the records we looked at, information was reviewed and updated regularly so that staff had up to date information about people's current care and support needs. People using the service were involved in regularly reviewing their care and support needs.
Medicines were administered appropriately and stored safely in the home.
There were effective procedures in place to recruit and appoint staff and appropriate checks were made about staff's suitability to work for the service.
People were provided with information about how to make a complaint if they were not happy with the service. Their views and experiences were sought and acted on by staff. The service also had systems in place to monitor the quality of service that people received.
