Brigstock House is a care home registered to provide personal care and accommodation for up to eight people with a learning disability /autistic people and/or a physical disability. At the time of the inspection eight people were using the service. The assessment started on 18 June 2024. A site visit to gather people’s experiences and observe care practices was carried out on 21 June 2024. As part of the assessment we looked at 4 quality statements: Safeguarding; Safe environments; Safe and effective staffing; Infection prevention and control and Well-led: Governance, management and sustainability. We spoke with 6 people’s relatives, the deputy manager and the area manager. People used different ways of communicating, including using vocalisations, facial expressions and body language. We spent time with people, observing their interactions with staff. At the last inspection in February 2020 we rated this service ‘Good’ in safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. We carried out this inspection because we received concerns from a local authority relating to some aspects of the service identified in their 2023 quality assurance report. After that review the provider took comprehensive and appropriate action to address and resolve each concern. Following this responsive assessment, the service has received an overall rating of good for all the 4 quality statements assessed. The majority of the people living at Brigstock House had been living there for a long time and were well known to staff.
