Our view of the service
We visited Ayeesha-Raj Care Home on 20, 21 and 22 May 2024. This was an unannounced assessment, which meant the provider was not told an assessment was going to be starting beforehand. During this assessment we looked at all quality statements. People had care plans to guide safe practice. There were enough staff to ensure people’s safety and meet their needs. We found staff treated people with kindness, dignity and respect. However, we found 2 breaches of the legal regulation in relation to safe care and treatment and good governance. At our last inspection we identified the breach of the legal regulation in relation to good governance. Not enough improvement had been made at this assessment and the provider remained in breach of the regulation for good governance. Cleaning measures and procedures were not effective or sufficient in maintaining a clean and hygienic environment. Systems designed to monitor the quality and safety of the service were not always effective in identifying the concerns found during this assessment. Some of the concerns had been previously identified at the last inspection. The provider was receptive to our feedback and had started implementing improvements. ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ is the guidance CQC follows to make assessments and judgements about services supporting people with a learning disability and/or autistic people, and providers must have regard to it. We have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. People were supported to have maximum control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests; the policies and systems in the service supported this practice.
