During a routine inspection

We were not able to communicate verbally with people using the service. However, we spent the most part of our visit observing and interacting with people using the service. We saw staff interacting with people in a respectful and sensitive manner using different ways of communication including Makaton and pictures. People were supported in making a number of choices including a choice of drinks and personal care. When we asked a person if they were happy living in the home, they nodded and said "Yes". This indicated people's needs were being met.

People using the service confirmed that they were happy living at the home and they liked the staff. We observed people were clean and well dressed. We noted people were supported by staff to go out to take part in different activities.

We observed staff were pleasant and caring towards people who use the service. People who use the service appeared relaxed and confident when interacting with staff. This indicated people using the service trusted the staff.

We observed that staff were present to respond to people's needs. People who use the service appeared happy with staff. We observed that staff worked well together and assisted each other in ensuring that people were safe and well cared for.
