During a routine inspection
People we spoke to told us they were generally positive about living at Watcombe Circus. One person told us 'I like it here' another told us that 'people get on your nerves sometimes but otherwise its fine'. One individual told us that their experience of living at the home has improved since the new manager came some 2 years ago. The relative we spoke to told us that they 'couldn't speak highly enough of the staff'.
Staff we spoke to told us that they enjoyed working at Watcombe Circus. They said they felt respected by managers and colleagues and benefited from good supervision and training. A bank staff member told us that when working at the care home they were never made to feel 'I'm not part of the staff team'
People who receive a service told us that they know how to complain and who to speak to if they have problems. One person told us they would speak to the manager, their key worker who they named or their community nurse who is based with the district community learning disabilities service.
During our visit we observed respectful behaviour from staff towards people who use the service and listened to creative and focused reporting and work planning between staff during the afternoon shift handover.
