Workforce wellbeing and enablement

Score: 3

Staff morale was high. They told us they enjoyed their jobs, felt valued and liked helping people. Staff felt well supported and encouraged to always do their best. A staff member said, “Our managers and seniors show genuine gratitude by verbally saying thank you. They give regular and personalized feedback. They recognise hard work, and they also acknowledge employee birthdays.” The registered manager told us they had noticed a significant improvement in staff morale since our assessment in November 2023. They felt management and staff worked together as a team and this had helped contribute to stable workforce and happy working environment.

The provider had ensured that staff had access to external counselling if needed. This could be to discuss matters that could be affecting them at work, or, in their personal lives. There was a diverse workforce in place. Some staff had requested a safe space to pray at certain times of the day. This was provided and others were made aware not to enter this room during prayers. Due to the diversity of the workforce, staff were encouraged to embrace their own cultures and implement them into their roles. For example, music and dance specific to their cultures. The registered manager told us this had led to many fun sessions where people living at the home sang and danced with staff.
