Safeguarding
Informal arrangements were in place to ensure oversight of visitors to the private accommodation that was in use. Following our on-site inspection, the registered manager formalised policies and procedures for visiting the private accommodation. Access to the private accommodation in use had minimal impact on people’s privacy, as access was via a side entrance which did not go through communal areas or past people’s bedrooms. People felt safe and had access to the provider’s safeguarding procedure if required.
Involving people to manage risks
We did not look at Involving people to manage risks during this assessment. The score for this quality statement is based on the previous rating for Safe.
Safe environments
At the time of our on-site visit, we were informed that health and safety checks on the environment, were carried out routinely. Written records were not always completed to demonstrate these checks were consistently carried out on the private accommodation in use. We raised concern that the private accommodation which was not in use could only be accessed through the main building passing people's bedrooms. This would impact on people’s safety and privacy if the private accommodation became occupied. In addition, we found this private accommodation to require deep cleaning. The provider responded immediately and assured us this area was no longer used as private accommodation and would only be used for storage and that the area had been cleaned. A specific risk assessment regarding the private accommodation in use was implemented after our on-site inspection.
