During a routine inspection
Everyone we spoke to said that they were happy living at Sherwood House. One person said "It is comfortable here". Another person told us that they were happy with their room. Some of the people we spoke to said that they could spend their time during the day where they wanted. One person told us that they preferred to stay in their room and that staff would bring their meals up.
They told us that they liked the staff and felt well supported. They told us that could always talk to the staff and that they listened to them. People told us that when they rang their buzzers, staff always responded quickly.
People we spoke with said that there was a choice of meals available and most people said that they enjoyed their meals. One person said "I don't really want to comment on the food". Other people said "The food is good and I get large portions" and "I like the food".
Relatives told us that they were informed of any concerns and that they were always made welcome. One person said "It has a very homely feel here and the staff are very kind". Another relative said "The staff are usually doing something for people and are very caring".
We saw that staff were very busy and followed a set routine during the day that allocated them tasks. This sometimes meant that they did not have time to spend with people. However, we observed that staff were kind and patient and responded to people when they spoke to them or asked for assistance.
