During a routine inspection
One person was keen to share their care records with us. They were pleased with what was written about the care and support they needed, and with all the photographs included in the records. These showed the person involved in a wide range of activities, from helping around the house, cooking, and going on holiday.
We saw that people were encouraged to be as independent as possible and their healthcare needs were met. Assessments of risk had been carried out and plans were in place to manage, and thereby reduce, risks to people. Medicines were stored and handled well so that people received their medicines safely.
Staff had received training in how to protect vulnerable people and demonstrated they knew the procedures for reporting any concerns. Staff told us that they received regular supervision and had undergone training in a range of topics so that they were competent to carry out their role. They said they were happy working at Thomas Road, adding, 'I've been here over 20 years; that must say something.'
People told us they would talk to any of the staff if they were unhappy about anything. Staff said they knew people so well that they quickly recognised if someone was unhappy or unwell.
