During a routine inspection

We found that the manager and staff had continued to review and develop how Broadleas accommodated and supported people living there. We saw evidence of how the format used for care plans had been reviewed, so as to ensure that they reflected the care and treatment choices of people living at the service. People told us that: "staff were caring and always available to help me". People also told us that: " staff had taken to time to speak with me and ask me what I did and did not like".

The home had an activities co-ordinator. People told us that:" they enjoyed most of the activities' and had been asked what activities they enjoyed.

We looked at all of the communal and some of the individual rooms at the home. There was a programme of redecoration and refurbishment which was ongoing. Staff training records showed they had access to suitable health and safety and specialist training, to enable them to care and support people living at the service. During discussions with staff they demonstrated that they understood the needs, likes and dislikes of people living at the home.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with a number of people living at Broadleas about the quality of the care they receive. One person told us, " I am comfortable here, it suits me, everyone is so friendly" and "I get the help I need". Another person said, "staff are all very nice". People also told us that the quality of the meals provided was good with one person telling us, "I always enjoy my meals here" and another "the food is always good".

We spoke with two relatives who were visiting the home. They told us that they were, "always made to feel welcome" and "staff are kind and caring, its a friendly home".
