Updated 5 September 2024
Date of assessment 19 September to 3 October 2024. We visited the service on 19, 24 and 27 September 2024. We observed people who use the service, spoke with their relatives and staff between 19 to 27 September 2024. Beck House is a residential home providing personal care and accommodation for people with a learning disability, physical disability and complex needs. This was a scheduled assessment which was brought forward due to a safeguarding concern raised. At the time of our assessment there were 17 people using the service. The service is registered to accommodate 23 people. We found 1 breach of the legal regulations in relation to the notification of other incidents. The service had not notified the Care Quality Commission (CQC) as required about allegations of abuse. We assessed all quality statements from the safe, responsive and well-led key questions. The scores for these areas have been combined with scores based on the key question ratings from the last inspection. Though the assessment of these three quality statements indicated areas of concern since the last inspection, our overall rating remains good. We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the breach of regulation found at this assessment. Right care; people received safe care and staff knew how to involve people in making choices. Right culture; there was an open and transparent culture, staff and the management team worked well together. People could have visitors when they wished. Right support; care plans were person centred. Staff knew people’s likes and dislikes. Although, improvements were needed to ensure all statutory notifications were made when required.
