During a routine inspection

The home is due to close on 3rd May 2012. People using the service and staff expressed their disappointment and sadness that this was going to happen. The manager told us they had a clear plan for how admissions to the home will be managed in the near future so the closure can be as smooth as possible.

We spoke with three people who were using the rehabilitation service and three people who were using the respite care service. These are some of the things they told us:

'It's a wonderful service, my mobility has improved since I came here and I am going home soon. I can't understand why they are closing it.'

'The staff are good, it's very friendly and there is a nice atmosphere.'

'The food is wonderful and there is a good choice.'

'It's very clean and tidy. I am comfortable here and I feel safe.'

'I get the support I need and the staff are very helpful.'

'People go home from here I wouldn't have liked to go straight home from hospital. Staff have time here to work with you and because of that my walking has improved.'

'Everything is all right, I have no complaints and would like to come here again but I won't be able to because the home is closing.'

During a routine inspection

Staff are wonderful they will do anything for you.

The food is good and we get a choice of meals. Meals are well presented and the menus are varied.

If I had any concerns I would tell a member of staff and they would sort it out for me.

When I arrived staff made sure I knew how to use the emergency call and showed me where things were.

Staff know what they are doing and give me the support I need.

The home is always clean and tidy.

I stay here when my family go away, staff are friendly and have a laugh with me.

Staff are on the ball and are consistently good.

I like working here. We work well as a team and have good opportunities to undertake training.
