Caring
The home was caring. People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests; the policies and systems in the service supported this practice. People were supported to be as independent as possible with the support of staff. Health professionals and a relative confirmed staff encouraged people to do the things that mattered to them. Information was provided people in a format they could easily understand.

Staff actively supported people to be independent where possible, ensuring they were safe as well. For example, a member of staff explained they supported people to go into the community but if they changed their mind, they respected their wishes.
People’s care records were written in an individual way. People’s preferences and communication needs were clearly documented for staff and visiting professionals, this helped to get to know them. People's relatives were involved in the care planning process and reviews and this provided an opportunity to see that the care provided was planned in way to be supportive and inclusive of people living at the home.
