All Inspections

2 September 2013

During a routine inspection

We found that people who used the service and their carers were fully involved in their care and support plan and had signed agreement and a contract.

People told us they were treated well and with dignity and respect. They were very pleased with the care and support given to them. Comments made included:-

'I am very well looked after, I am very happy',

'They are very supportive and have helped me develop; they are very kind and caring',

'I love it, they care about me so much'.

We found that people's needs were assessed and care and support was planned and delivered in line with their individual plans.

We found that staff were suitably inducted, trained and supervised to undertake their work. Carers told us they felt well supported by PSS and were well trained in order to undertake their role.

We saw evidence of suitable quality monitoring systems in place and that people's views were taken into account and they were listened to.

During a routine inspection

During our visit we spoke with the manager and two project workers. After the inspection visit we contacted four people who lived or stayed at various adult placements and their carers. People who used the service told us they were happy with the care and supported provided by their carers and enjoyed living with them.

Carers we spoke with told us they had appropriate training to undertake their work competently and had good support from PSS Adult Placement (Wirral).

Training records for the project workers were looked at and showed they had undertaken a wide range of training to support them in their roles.

We found the service carried out assessments prior to the matching process. This ensured people who used the service were involved in all aspects of decision making about were the wanted to live.

Care and risk assessments provided information to enable the carers to provide safe and appropriate care and support. Project workers visited and assessed placement every six weeks to ensure people were safe and happy.

Both staff and carers had undertaken safeguarding training and were clear about their roles and responsibilities.

People who used the service told us they knew how to make their concerns known if they were unhappy about the service they received.

23 December 2011

During a routine inspection

People we spoke with told us that they felt part of the family they lived with; we were told that they have regular meetings with staff from the agency and the adult placement carer to discuss how things are going and if any changes are needed. We were told that staff from the agency and/or on-call service are always available, and that everyone on placement had contact details for their support staff and out of hours on-call service.

People we spoke with told us that they had their own bedrooms and full use of other communal areas in the home.

One person told us 'they are there for you, to talk to you', in respect of staff from the agency.

One person told us that 'of course they felt safe, if they didn't they would leave.'

One person told us that if they felt unsure, not safe or unhappy about anything they would call or text a member of staff in the office.

People we spoke with told us that staff from the agency visit them and meet with them approximately every six weeks, to discuss how things are and to check records.
