During an inspection in response to concerns
During our visit people told us that their care was good and that staff were extremely helpful. It was difficult to establish the views of people that had a dementia. Relatives of one person using the service said that they were concerned that staff had failed to prevent their family member leaving the building and that there were insufficient staff at the time to provide the care. Another relative was concerned that healthcare needs were not referred in a timely manner. This resulted in their care needs not being fully met. Other people however said that when they needed healthcare support the staff contacted the appropriate service on their behalf.
People also said that the staff were always helpful and had complied with their wishes. One person accompanied by their relative was able to give feedback that they had been fully involved with the planning of their care needs. However the relatives of two other people using the service were not consulted.
People using the service said that they liked the home although it could be noisy. People said that others living at the home often wandered into their rooms and they did not like this.
People we spoke to said that in their experience staff were always busy supporting everyone and undertaking paperwork or other tasks.
