During an assessment under our new approach

Date of Assessment: 30 July 2024 to 17 September 2024. Site visits were carried out by inspectors on 30 July 2024, 14 August 2024 and 20 August 2024. Chartwell Manor Care Home is a new service which provides nursing care for up to 61 people. It is situated in the heart of the local community, close to shops and the GP surgery. This was the first assessment of the service. All of the quality statements were assessed on this occasion. The service has been rated ‘Good’ overall as a result of this assessment. People were supported to be safe and were protected from the risk of abuse. Staff and management knew people well and how to meet their needs. Staff treated people with kindness and compassion, and there was a positive and friendly culture in the service. People were supported to maintain good health and had regular reviews by GPs and community healthcare professionals. People were supported to enjoy a variety of activities to keep their mind and body active, which promoted well-being. There was good leadership and management at the service. Staff worked well with other agencies to meet people’s needs. Staff described a supportive working environment and were able to contribute to ideas to improve practice. There were effective governance processes, to ensure continuous improvement. Minor improvements were needed to enhance practice in relation to involving people to manage risk, staffing, the environment, kindness, compassion and dignity, best interest decision-making and equity in access.
