During a routine inspection

We were not able to speak with people who use the service. We spoke to two shared lives carers and the manager of the scheme.

The shared lives carers told us they felt well supported by the manager. One person said 'If I need anything I ring the manager.' The other person said 'I know I can ring anytime for advice and support.'

The shared lives carers told us they would highly recommend the work they do as they found it rewarding.

We found people experienced care, treatment and support that met their needs and protected their rights. People who use the service were protected from the risk of abuse and people were cared for by staff who were supported to deliver care and treatment safely. The provider had an effective system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people receive. People were protected from the risks of unsafe or inappropriate care and treatment because accurate and appropriate records were maintained.

During an inspection looking at part of the service

People told us they felt part of the family and were 'loved' and 'well care for'. We asked two people about their healthcare needs and they told us they had an allocated GP and they attended other healthcare appointments such as opticians and dentists.

We spoke with people about feeling safe with the service they received. Two people told us they felt safe and their carers supported them well. People told us they had no concerns about the way the carers treated them. One said, 'me and .. are very happy with mom and dad. We have no problems'.

During a routine inspection

People told us that their carers treated them as part of the family. People were treated with respect and their views were taken in consideration when personal care was being provided.

Some of the comments from the people who used the service included:

'Mom is kind to us and we like it here'.

'I am very happy'.

'I am always asked what I want to do. I like going out as a family'.

People told us that they felt safe and enjoyed being part of the carer's family.
