During a routine inspection
People using the service told us there was a range of social activities available and explained that they could choose things to do in the home or be supported to go out in the community if they wanted.
People told us they experienced good care and their healthcare needs were met. One person said about their care workers 'they are very brilliant, take good care of me'. Another person said 'I love it here, can't do it on my own and they (care workers) help me'. We asked them why they liked the service so much and they told us 'it's very important that I come here, it gives my family a break from looking after me and I don't worry when I am here, as they look after me and I get to make new friends'.
We received positive comments about the food and drinks provided in the home. One person using the service said 'I like the food here. I had sausage and mash with peas for dinner last night; it was very nice and I helped to mash the potatoes'. Another person said 'my favourite is the toad in the hole, it's yummy'. People receiving respite care at the service are encouraged to be independent and told us they liked making their packed lunches and assisting with food preparation. One person told us 'I like to help with the meals and get things ready'.
People using the service told us there was enough trained staff to support them with their needs. One person said 'I feel safe and happy, everyone is nice'. Another person said 'I like my key worker (designated care worker) as they listen to me'.
