People told us that they like living at the Coach House. People feel well supported and cared for. People are supported discreetly and sensitively and on the day of our visit there was a relaxed and friendly atmosphere in the home. Two people have recently moved in to the Coach House and the staff team and the managers have worked hard to make sure that they have settled in well. One person told us that they had settled in well and that they liked their bedroom. Staff are knowledgeable of people's individual care and support needs and this enables them to meet people's needs safely and effectively.People have regular contact with family and friends and a relative told the home that their family member is, 'very well looked after and that the manager and the staff are wonderful, very kind and nothing is too much trouble'.
Visiting health care professionals spoke positively of the service provided at the home and an advocate who supports people living at the Coach House said that managers and staff listen to people's views and involve people in the running of the home.
Staff feel well supported to do their jobs. They receive good training opportunities and have an 'approachable' and 'professional' manager. Staff consider that they offer good quality care and support and would be confident to recognise and report any poor or abusive practice. Staffing levels are flexible and enable people to access in house and community activities. Now that the home is fully occupied the acting manager is reviewing the rota with the staff team and will ensure that minimum staffing levels are always maintained as well as having additional staff available when required.
Select Healthcare (2006) Limited, the organisation who manages the home, has implemented a number of quality assurance and monitoring measures which mean that the manager and senior managers are able to assess if the home is meeting the essential standards of quality and safety. This enables them to ensure that they deliver a good quality service.
