Greenacre Park

This assessment was carried out between 26 September and 1 October. Greenacre Park is a care home providing nursing and personal care to adults, some of whom were living with dementia and mental health conditions. This was the first assessment of this care home, which was prompted due to serious concerns. We completed a full inspection looking at all key questions. At this assessment we identified 2 breaches of regulation which concerned safe care and treatment, and good governance. Risks to people were not always assessed or mitigated. Quality assurance and governance systems were not as effective as they should be. We identified concerns with the application of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 including the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards. We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns around safe care and treatment found at this assessment. People said they felt safe with staff. Some staff and relatives felt there were not enough staff to meet people’s needs. People and their relatives gave mixed feedback on the provision of activities available within the service. People were not always supported to take part in activities that were meaningful to them. While people were generally happy with their overall care, our assessment found elements of care did not meet the expected standards. Our observations of the care provided found concerns about people's safety. We identified risks to people's health, safety and well-being as their care needs and any associated risks had not been consistently assessed, monitored or mitigated.
