Kindness, compassion and dignity

Regulations met

On the day of inspection, we collected feedback from 10 patients. All 10 patients told us that they would recommend the practice to their family and friends. Patient feedback provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice. Patient comments included that staff offered clear advice, and painless treatment for nervous patients and quick appointments. One patient said, “customer service was excellent attention to detail, efficient reception admin and a relaxed atmosphere.” Patients said staff were professional, courteous, and considerate. Patients felt they were treated as individuals, and their personal and cultural needs were respected. The practice collected patient feedback and reviewed it on a regular basis to look for themes and trends. Feedback was discussed in practice meetings.

Staff were aware of their responsibility to respect people’s diversity and human rights, and of the importance of patient privacy and confidentiality. Leaders described how they supported the wellbeing of staff and enabled all staff to access free training. Staff said they felt respected, valued and supported in their roles.

We did not receive any information from partner organisations.

The practice had installed closed-circuit television to improve security for patients and staff. Siting of CCTV cameras was appropriate and relevant signage was displayed. The practice had information governance arrangements and staff were aware of the importance of protecting patients’ personal information. Staff password protected patients’ electronic care records, and paper records were stored securely and complied with General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). We saw the general environment helped to protect patients’ privacy and dignity. Staff treated patients with kindness, respect and compassion.
