Our view of the service

We carried out this on-site, announced assessment on 6 June 2024. We found the practice had not met all regulations. Infection control procedures followed published guidance. Patients were treated with dignity and respect. At the time of our assessment, patients could access care, support and treatment when required. Following the inspection improvements were made to enhance risk identification and mitigation. For example, recruitment procedures were updated to ensure they reflected current legislation, improvements were made to clinical records and safeguarding processes were put in place. The practice is in Crawley and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children and NHS care and treatment to children. At the time of our assessment, the dental team included 2 dentists, 2 dental nurses, 2 dental hygienists, 1 periodontist, 1 practice manager and 1 receptionist. The practice had 3 treatment rooms. During the assessment we spoke with 2 dentists, 2 dental nurses, 1 dental hygienist, 1 receptionist and the practice manager. The provider was not complying with all regulations. We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.

People's experience of this service

Two weeks before our visit, we asked the practice to encourage patients to share their views of the service with us. On the day of our visit we obtained feedback from 13 patients. Their responses and additional patient feedback we reviewed provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice. 100% of views expressed by patients were positive. The practice shared patient feedback with the team. We were told this was reviewed and where suggestions had been made, appropriate action would be taken. Staff gathered feedback from patients, the public and external partners and demonstrated a commitment to acting on feedback. Patients commented positively about the standards of cleanliness.
