During an assessment under our new approach

We carried out this announced on-site assessment on 8 January 2025. We found the practice had met regulations. Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance, and infection control procedures were in place. The practice had systems to manage risks. Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement. Patients were treated with dignity and respect and at the time of our assessment, could access care, support and treatment when required. P J Laskowski Dental Practice, also known as Ealing Smiles, is in the London Borough of Ealing and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children. The practice was located on the first floor and was not accessible to all patients. Patients who could not manage the stairs were directed to alternative dental practices. The practice had 1 treatment room. During the assessment we spoke with the principal dentist, the dental nurse and the receptionist.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with three people using the service and they all told us they were satisfied with their treatment and the way the practice was run. They told us the dentist always discussed treatment options and the costs before any treatment was carried out. One person said 'absolutely no problems. My family all come here.'

We looked at the records for six people using the service. We saw that people agreed to their treatment and their medical history and treatment plans were updated at each appointment. People told us they were given a copy of their treatment plan for information. One person said 'they always ask about any changes in my health before I see the dentist.'

The provider had infection control systems in place and procedures were followed and recorded by staff working in the surgery. Regular infection control audits were completed to make sure that people were treated safely. One person told us 'the whole place is always very clean and hygienic.'

The provider followed clear staff recruitment procedures when appointing staff. All clinical staff working in the surgery were qualified or in training and professionally registered.

There were effective systems in place for managing complaints and people told us they felt confident the provider would investigate and resolve any concerns they had.
