Caring
At the lasted rated inspection this key question was rated as good. At this inspection the rating has remained good. This meant people were supported and treated with dignity and respect; and involved as partners in their care. People and relatives found staff treated them with dignity and kindness. Staff sought people’s views about how to support them and, when appropriate, relative were included them in discussions about the support being offered. The manager led by example and enabled staff to deliver person-centred care and this was the fundamental basis of the design of the service. Processes were in place to take account of people’s strengths, abilities, aspirations, culture and unique backgrounds and protected characteristics. When staff reported people’s needs had changed the senior management team ensured swift action was taken to ask health and social care professionals to review the person and their support. People reported staff promoted their independence. They knew their rights and had choice and control over their own care, treatment. and wellbeing. Staff provided care in a timely and responsive manner. Overall, staff felt the manager cared about and promoted their wellbeing, and supported them to deliver person centred care.

Independence, choice and control
People we spoke with told us they were encouraged to be as independent as possible and their rights and choices were upheld. People were supported to make decisions about how their care needs were met. One person told us, “They are very keen to help you to do things for yourself. It’s a different way of life but I’m quite happy." Another person said, “The staff are very good they actually care and are very approachable." Relatives we spoke with told us they were welcomed at the home at any time.
Staff understood people had the right to have choice and control over how their care needs were met. encouraged individuals to make choices for themselves. Every staff we spoke with were able to give us positive suggestions for if someone was to refuse care or support.
We saw people were treated with dignity and respect by all staff working at the service. Staff treated people as individuals. Staff also knew people well and the atmosphere in the service was warm and welcoming. We saw a variety of activities taking place during the day and one person told us, "They are there if you want to join in."
Systems and processes were in place to ensure the service delivered person-centred care where people had choice and control over how staff met their needs. In the care plans we reviewed, we saw that staff had ensured care plans contained pertinent information about people’s needs and preferences to enable staff to provide appropriate care.
