Our view of the service
We carried out this on-site, announced assessment on 3 January 2025. We found the practice had met regulations. Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement. Patients were treated with dignity and respect and at the time of our assessment and could access care, support and treatment when required. Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance. We found shortfalls in appropriately assessing and mitigating risks in relation to environmental cleaning oversight and cleaning equipment storage arrangements, fire safety management, retention of recruitment checks and referral tracking procedures. We were assured that all of the shortfalls identified would be addressed as soon as practicably possible. The practice is in Salisbury and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children. There was step free access to the practice and car parking spaces were available near to the practice. The practice had 4 treatment rooms. During the assessment we spoke with 2 dentists, a dental nurse, receptionist, external compliance lead and the practice manager.
People's experience of this service
Two weeks before our onsite assessment, we asked the practice to encourage patients to share their views of the service with us. We received feedback from 6 patients. On the day of our assessment, we spoke with a further 5 patients. Patient feedback provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice. Patient feedback included: “The quality of care I have received at Sarum Dental Practice over the past few years and especially past year has been second to none. All the dentists and hygienists I have seen at the practice have been highly professional, compassionate, as well as incredibly skilled with deep technical knowledge. Friendly, clear guidance about what they were doing to my teeth and why which I appreciated. I was made to feel at ease during fillings, check-ups and hygiene appointments”.
