Our view of the service
We carried out this announced on-site assessment on 15 January 2025. We found the practice had met regulations. Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance, and infection control procedures were in place. The practice had systems to manage risks. Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement. Patients were treated with dignity and respect and at the time of our assessment, could access care, support and treatment when required. The practice is in Stalybridge, Greater Manchester and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children. Due to the nature of the building, the practice was not wheelchair accessible with 3 steps at the entrance to the practice. The practice does not have its own car park but there parking spaces are available on the road directly outside the practice and disabled parking is available at a nearby supermarket. The practice had 3 treatment rooms. The total number of staff was 9. During the assessment we spoke with 2 dentists, 1 dental hygienists, 2 dental nurses, 1 receptionist and the practice manager.
People's experience of this service
Prior to our on-site assessment, we asked the practice to encourage patients to share their views of the service with us. We received feedback from 15 patients. On the day of our assessment, we saw patient feedback from a further 142 patients. This was made up from 63 online reviews and 79 respondents to a patient survey gathered by the practice during September, October and November 2024. Patient feedback provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice. Comments included, “My dentist is amazing, he puts you at ease and very gentle, also the staff there are excellent and can't do enough for you”, “The employees are very friendly and always make me feel at ease when I attend. The reception team are chatty and welcoming from the moment you enter the building”, “My dentist is approachable, friendly and very professional. Always explains what he is doing and why. At every stage of any check-up or treatment I'm 100% clear with what is being done. Dental Assistants are always friendly and efficient too” and “The staff are so helpful & polite. My dentist & my hygienist are excellent clearly explaining every step of the procedure really could not be happier with the service.” Patients commented positively about the standards of cleanliness. Patients felt able to book appointments within an acceptable timescale for their needs and said they had enough time during their appointment without feeling rushed. Patients told us they were given clear information to help them make an informed choice about their treatment and any associated costs. They were involved in decisions about their care. Patients told us that when they were prescribed medicines, sufficient information was given. Patients told us that they were supported to maintain their oral health and were provided with appropriate information and resources.
