During a routine inspection
We saw that there were two staff working at the dental practice, one dentist and one dental nurse/ receptionist. The premises are located on the ground floor of a building in the village of Whitwell; however there would be access issues for people who had severely restricted mobility.
During our inspection visit we looked at the premises, policies, care records, and staff training records. We found that the building was suitable for its purpose, and that there were cleaning schedules in place to meet the requirements of infection control. We also saw that the record keeping was clear and sufficiently detailed.
We spoke to two patients, both of who were NHS patients. Both said they were very satisfied with the dental care and treatment they received, and made the following comments: 'I have come to this country from overseas, and the dentist makes sure I have understood what he has said, and he really tries to put me at ease. I have had other dentists in the past who have made me very nervous, but this one is very good, and I am quite relaxed.' 'I can't fault it, the treatment is first class, and I'm totally satisfied.'
