People who used the service were happy with the care and treatment they received. One person said. 'I am very happy with my care, they (the staff) are professional as well as friendly.' Another person said, 'All of the staff are brilliant, they are more thorough then anyone else.' A further person told us, 'I'm very happy, I have never had any problems and all of the staff are always very attentive.' We saw that people were treated with respect and in a polite manner by the staff at the service. Feedback received from people in a recent survey was positive about their experience.
The environment was clean and tidy on the day of our inspection. People told us, 'They (the service) seem keen on upgrading the equipment.' Another person told us, 'It's spotless, I feel very safe here, I have lots of confidence with the whole set up.'
Staff were able to demonstrate that they could identify signs of abuse and that any concerns would be reported to an appropriate authority.
The service had a recruitment policy in place. We saw that staff were knowledgeable and understood their roles and responsibilities. All professional staff were registered with their regulatory body for dental professionals, the General Dental Council (GDC). However, not all staff had an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check. This meant that people using the service may not be adequately protected.
There were not always adequate systems in place to monitor the quality of service provision.
