During a routine inspection
The service aims to support young adults while at Thorn Cross YOI, to become free from drugs and to participate positively in their local communities, once they are released from prison. At the time of our inspection no young adults in Thorn Cross YOI were currently accessing services from CRI (Crime Reduction Initiatives). A most recent service user had been released prior to our visit.
CRI (Crime Reduction Initiatives) is a health and social care charity that works with individuals, families and communities across England and Wales that are affected by drugs, alcohol, crime, homelessness, domestic abuse, and antisocial behaviour. They deliver services in the community and prisons that aim to empower people to regain control of their lives and motivate them to tackle their problems. Staff work in police stations, courts, prisons and the community, providing comprehensive services that promote rehabilitation and prevent re-offending.
We found that, CRI (Crime Reduction Initiatives) worked closely with other healthcare organisations, as part of overall prison healthcare services based in Thorn Cross YOI.
