Date of assessment 17th September to 19th September 2024. Highfields Nursing Home is a ‘care home’ providing nursing and personal care to older people and people living with dementia. At the time of the assessment, the service was supporting 34 people with their nursing and personal care needs. At the time of the assessment, the manager was in the process of registering with the CQC. They had been employed at the service for many years in a different role and knew people and the staff team well. The assessment was supported by the deputy manager and the group care and compliance director for the provider. Highfields Nursing Home was last rated requires improvement (published 10 January 2024). The report was published following CQC’s old inspection approach using key lines of enquiry (KLOEs), prompts and ratings characteristics. This assessment has been completed following the Care Quality Commission (CQC) new approach to assessment; Single Assessment Framework (SAF). We assessed a total of 22 quality statements from the safe, effective, and well-led key questions and found some areas of concern, which the management team responded to immediately to provide us with assurance. We also found areas of improvement since our last inspection of the service. The scores for these areas have been combined with scores based on the key question ratings from the last inspection. This assessment did not cover all parts of our Single Assessment Framework; therefore, we have only updated scores and ratings for those areas which we have assessed. We will carry out future assessments to cover other parts of the Framework and will update our website with our findings.
