During a routine inspection
Staff we spoke to understood how to support people, assisted them to make choices and maintain as much independence as possible. A member of staff told us "we speak to people and encourage them to do as much for themselves as possible, we never take away their choices." A person who used the service told us "I like the way they treat you as an individual" and a family member told us "it's very much an individual service."
People that we spoke with were very positive about the care workers, the manager and owner. Comments included 'really lovely, chatty and friendly," "the management are excellent and understanding."
In order to protect the people who used the service, we saw that the provider carried out a rigorous staff recruitment process. We saw that staff were knowledgeable about people's needs and were able to deliver care in a personalised way.
There were processes in place to monitor the quality of service being provided and we saw that people were involved through detailed assessments, regular reviews and one to one discussions.
Relatives we spoke to told us they were very happy with the standard of care. One person told us "I'm very happy with the care, it enables me to have a social life." Another told us "there is good communication, good notes and consistency of care."
