Staff knew people well and overall people received personalised care and support. Staff told us how they supported people with interest, hobbies and activities by listening to and acting upon people’s wishes and known preferences.

Listening to and involving people
Relatives were positive that people were involved as fully as possible in their care and support and were respected and listened to by staff.
Staff told us they supported people to be involved as much as possible in their care and support. This involved encouraging people, supporting choice making and promoting people’s independence. Staff told us about people’s different communication methods and preferences and how communication support plans and guidance were used effectively to support people as much as possible to express their wishes.
There were systems and processes in place to gain feedback from people using the service and their relatives. The provider had a complaints procedure in place. We saw examples of policies and guidance being available in a format that was accessible to all. The registered manager told us people had advocates to support them in ensuring they are listened to and involved.
