We spoke with four young people who used the service. Comments included: 'The staff really do care about you'; 'It's not that they are caring for their job, it's that they really, really care for you'; 'Staff will miss going home on time, to make sure we are ok, they genuinely care' and 'When staff notice you are feeling low, staff will sit with you until they know you are ok, until you are smiling and happy again, they will make you laugh.'
There were effective systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection. Audits were regularly undertaken in the unit for infection control on a weekly, monthly and annual basis.
The organisation recognised the importance of having a staff team which was well trained and supported in order to meet the needs of the young people staying at Plym Bridge House.
Accurate care records were kept and stored securely in order to protect young people's confidentiality.

During a routine inspection
We talked with four young people staying at Plym Bridge House. One young person we spoke with agreed that the treatment programmes were appropriate for them. We asked if people felt the group sessions were appropriate and one person said they felt really supported. People agreed that they felt safe when they came to Plym Bridge House and were treated well by the staff.
One person told us, 'They (Plym Bridge House) really helped me sort myself out.
The young people we asked knew how to make a complaint and who to speak to if they had any concerns.
We looked in detail at the care and treatment plans for three people staying in Plym Bridge House. We spoke with the staff on duty about the treatment and support the young people received. The care plan files were all individual and person-centred and each held risk assessments to ensure people were protected.
Staff had undertaken training in the Safeguarding Vulnerable Children as well as Child Protection training. This assisted the staff to take appropriate action if an issue was identified.
A comment sent to Plym Bridge House from someone who used the service said, 'I owe a lot to Plym Bridge House for the way they have helped me move on with my life'.
