During a routine inspection
People were taking part in activities and going out into the community for lunch, shopping and to play Bingo. People were encouraged to be fully involved in the running of the service including taking part in the cooking and cleaning. One person said “I have help to do my laundry and to keep my room clean.” Another person said “I’m happy. I want to stay here.”
People’s hobbies and interests were supported and people had support to keep in touch with their family and friends. People said they felt safe and said that they felt there were enough staff to meet their needs and facilitate activities and outings.
People maintained good health as the service worked closely with health and social care professionals. The home was safe and well maintained and suited people’s needs.
Staff were suitably trained and supervised. New staff were subject to robust checks to make sure they were safe to work with vulnerable people. Staff worked through an induction programme and were not signed off a probation period until they were deemed competent.
