People using the service told us they were supported to live independently and were encouraged to have different life experiences. People said they went to college to improve on their formal education including literature and computers. People were supported to work in the community and follow a career path.People chose what activities to complete each day. People told us they enjoyed doing different sports including football, ice skating, basket ball and crafts and meeting up with friends.
We saw there were photographs displayed around the home of activities and events including photographs of where people had been featured in local press articles. People told us this was for work supporting children with sport and for raising a large amount of money for charity by making bag charms.
We asked people what they wanted to say about the service within our report and they told us, 'The house has a really good atmosphere. The staff are really kind and helpful. No matter what mood you're in, they always come and chat to you, no matter what they're doing.'
We saw that staff responded positively to people and supported them to retain their independence. Staff told us that their role was to enable people to do things for themselves and work towards gaining independence.
People were involved with how the service was managed and were given opportunities to comment about the development of the service. People told us they could talk to all the staff and senior managers and said, 'The staff always ask what we want, and they listen. All the staff here help me and I love it here.'
