During a routine inspection
Ocean House is a respite/short stay home for up to four people with learning disabilities.
There were two people staying at the home for short stays at the time of this inspection. We spoke with one person and observed the staff interacting and communicating with the other person who had complex ways of communicating. We spoke with one care worker and the manager.
We observed that staff and the two people were relaxed with each other; they laughed and enjoyed each others company. Staff knew each person's likes and dislikes and had good relationships with them. They understood how one person communicated and responded to their non verbal cues and gestures.
We spoke with staff who understood what safeguarding was and what they would do if they suspected someone was being abused. Staff told us that they had handovers and support meetings with their line manager.
