Condition of this registration relating to carrying out this regulated activity
Within 28 days of this notice being adopted, the registered provider must conduct a full review of all service user’s communication needs and identify their preferred communication methods. The provider must then ensure within 3 months of this notice being adopted, that all staff have the training, skills, knowledge and competency to communicate with service users using their preferred communication methods and apply this in practice.
Within 28 days of this notice being adopted, the registered provider must ensure that all staff have the training, skills, knowledge, and competency to understand service users’ sensory needs, including a sensory diet and apply this in practice.
Within 28 days of this notice being adopted, the registered provider must ensure that all service users have been assessed for needs in relation to sexual expression and relationships. The provider must then evidence in the monthly action plan what they have done to support service users who wish to, to explore those needs in ways that safeguards them.
Within 28 days of this notice being adopted, the registered provider must ensure all service users have goals which are personalised, specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and timed. Steps to achieve each goal must be clear and outcomes for people must be regularly reviewed and recorded. Service users must be supported to develop individual schedules which follow their social and educational interests.
Within 28 days of this notice being adopted, the registered provider must ensure they review the environment and put a plan in place about how they intend to ensure the décor and design promotes the values of the Right support, right care and right culture policy, meets people’s sensory and physical needs and promotes independence. Where it is identified that the layout of the building does not promote independence, the registered provider must provide details of how they plan to work around this to develop people’s independence.
Within 28 days of this notice being adopted, the registered provider must ensure that effective quality assurance measures are in place at both service and provider level. These must identify any instances of poor staff practice and be regularly reviewed for concerns, trends and outcomes. Any poor staff practice identified must have individual staff action plans in place to support staff to develop their skills to the expected standard, within reasonable timeframes.
Once this notice is adopted the registered provider must complete a monthly report, evidencing the actions that have been taken to ensure the conditions have been addressed. The name of the person responsible for completing these actions, to demonstrate improved lived experiences for service users and staff understanding of person-centered care must be highlighted in the report. This report must be provided to the Care Quality Commission (the Commission) on the first Monday of each month.
Terms of this registration relating to carrying out this regulated activity
The registered provider must only accommodate a maximum of 4 service users at Georgina House.
The Registered Provider must not provide nursing care under Accommodation for persons who require personal or nursing care at Georgina House.
