Requires improvement

Updated 18 October 2024

Date of assessment, site visit commenced on the 5, 6 and 7 November 2024. Off-site activity ended on the 15 November 2024. Fig House is a residential care home that can accommodate up to 26 people. At the time of our inspection there were 24 people living at the service. We spoke with people and their relatives on the 5 November 2024. At this inspection we assessed the key questions of Safe and Well led. We found 3 breaches of the legal regulation as notifications were not always being made as required, quality assurance systems were not in place and identifying shortfalls found during this inspection, and staff were not always being recruited safely. We have asked the provider for an action plan in relation to the breaches. At the last inspection the service was rated good. At this inspection the service is now rated requires improvement. Improvements were also needed to information within people’s individual care plans, risk assessments and Mental Capacity Assessments, and the provider’s staffing dependency tool. The service was being managed by a registered manager and a deputy manager. People felt supported by enough staff who they felt were kind and caring. Staff were knowledgeable about wearing personal protective equipment. Some areas of the service were visibly cleaner on the second day of our visit. People were admitted safely to the service. Staff felt supported by the registered manager and said they could raise any concerns with them or the provider. Feedback from 2 health professionals confirmed they felt people received good care.
