Our view of the service
Date of assessment: 1 August to. The date range includes both the off-site and ons assessed a total of 22 quality statements from the safe, effective, caring and well-led key questions and found improvement had been made to address the concerns we found at the last inspection. The assessment of these 22 quality statements indicated overall areas of good and improved practice since the last inspection. The overall rating has now improved to good. Governance systems and audits were used effectively in identifying and addressing areas for improvement, although we identified some gaps in records and some environmental hazards they were addressed immediately. People received their medicines on time and in a safe way. Staff with responsibilities for managing medicines were appropriately trained and competent. Policies and practices were in place to help ensure people were protected from the risk of harm and abuse. There were enough suitably skilled and trained staff to safely meet people’s safety this included the provision of 1-1 care and support for people who needed it. People were supported by staff who were respectful, kind and caring. People were supported to have choice and control, and lawful processes were followed for making decisions for people who lacked capacity to make their own decisions. Assessments and care plans contained up to date guidance for staff to follow and they were regularly reviewed to make sure they reflected peoples current and changing needs. Referrals were made for people to other health and social care professionals to make sure people received the all-round care and support they needed. te
People's experience of this service
We spoke with 7 people and 5 family members during this assessment. People told us they felt safe living at Marmaduke Street Care Home and were treated well by staff. Some family members raised some worries about their relative’s safety. We spoke with the manager and were given assurances about people's safety. Some family members told us they were not always involved in the assessment and care planning processes; however, they told us staff kept them up to date with any changes about their relative’s care and support needs and that they were involved in day-to-day decisions. People and family members told us staff were kind and caring and respectful towards them. People and family members knew who the manager was and felt they had made positive improvements since becoming the manager.
