During a routine inspection
The care plans that we saw showed that people were supported with their personal and health care needs. Care plans provided guidance for each person on becoming more independent and maintaining their independence.
The contracts for people using the service stated that people could choose their own provider for the support that they needed. However the charges for the service they received included both the accommodation and the support provided, and did not differentiate between the parts of the service they received.
Staff who we spoke with said that they received the training and support that they needed to meet the needs of the people using the service. The staff records that we saw showed that there were effective recruitment and selection processes in place, and that appropriate checks were undertaken before staff began work.
The staff who we spoke with were aware of their responsibilities for reporting any concerns about the safety and protection of people using the service. However none of the staff had received training on the provider's safeguarding procedures, and the procedures of the local safeguarding authority.
