Our current view of the service

We carried out this on-site, announced assessment on 26 June 2024. We found the practice had met regulations. The practice had systems to manage risks. Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation. Infection control procedures followed published guidance. Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance. Patients were treated with dignity and respect. At the time of our assessment, patients could access care, support and treatment when required. There was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement. Docklands Smile Studio is part of Damira Dental, a dental group provider. The practice is in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets and provides NHS dental care and treatment for adults and children. At the time of our assessment, the dental team included 5 dentists, 1 dental hygienist, 1 dental therapist, 1 qualified dental nurse, 1 trainee dental nurse, 2 receptionists, and a practice manager. The practice had 2 treatment rooms. During the assessment we spoke with 1 dentist, 1 dental nurse, 1 receptionist and the practice manager. We also spoke with one of the organisations regulatory officers.

Two weeks before our visit, we asked the practice to encourage patients to share their views of the service with us. Nine comments were received and 100% of views expressed by patients were positive. Comments included: ‘The practice is very clean and the staff including dentists are very friendly and helpful.’ ‘It is a very welcoming practice. Staff is so friendly and caring.’ ‘Very good practice. All of the staff members are going extra miles to help patients.’ The practice shared patient feedback with the team. We were told this was reviewed and where suggestions had been made, appropriate action would be taken. Staff gathered feedback from patients, the public and external partners and demonstrated a commitment to acting on feedback. Patients commented positively about the premises and standards of cleanliness.
