Our view of the service

We carried out this on-site, announced assessment on 10 September 2024. We found the practice had met regulations. The practice had systems to manage risks and infection control procedures were in place. Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance. Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement. Patients were treated with dignity and respect and at the time of our assessment, could access care, support and treatment when required. Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance and infection control procedures were in place. The practice had systems to manage risks. Murton Dental Practice is in Seaham and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children. The practice had 3 treatment rooms. During the assessment we spoke with 2 dentists, 4 dental nurses, 1 dental therapist, 1 receptionist and the practice manager.

People's experience of this service

During our assessment, we saw patient feedback from 23 patients. Comments included staff being “kind”, “professional”, “knowledgeable”, “welcoming”, “friendly”, and providing a “really great service”. The practice shared patient feedback with the team. We were told this was reviewed and where suggestions had been made, appropriate action would be taken. Staff gathered feedback from patients, the public and external partners and demonstrated a commitment to acting on feedback. Patients commented positively about the standards of cleanliness. Patient feedback expressed that they were happy with their care and our assessment found care met the expected standards.
