Delivering evidence-based care and treatment
People were supported and encouraged to be involved in the planning and delivery of their care, so their views and preferences could be met. Menu planning was a key area for a lot of people and whilst most people said they enjoyed the meals some people commented their preferences were not always met. People were involved in menu planning, and the cook was being supported to seek direct feedback from people which could be included in the menu which was also reviewed by a specialist nutrition team from the local authority.
Staff spoke to us confidently about people’s care and how it was important to make sure records were accurate. Leaders explained the importance of keeping staff up to date with good practice and explained the various ways they did this including staff meetings and sharing updates and learning across the organisation.
Processes were in place to ensure people were involved in the planning and delivery of their care. People’s views and preferences were sought at regular intervals and care plans were updated as needed. Recognised tools were used to assess people’s needs in relation to areas such as nutrition and hydration and skin integrity.
