During an assessment under our new approach

We carried out this on-site announced assessment on 17 October 2024. We found the practice had met all regulations. Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement. Patients were treated with dignity and respect and at the time of our assessment, could access care, support and treatment when required. Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance and infection control procedures were in place. The practice had systems to manage risks. The practice is in Bognor Regis and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children. There was step free access to the practice and car parking spaces were available near the practice. The practice had 3 treatment rooms. During the assessment we spoke with 2 dentists, 1 dental nurse, 1 trainee dental nurse, 1 dental hygienist and 1 receptionist.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with three people on the day of our visit, who were all complimentary about the care that they received at Knights Dental Surgery. Patients told us that they were involved in decisions that were made about their care. They said that they understood the choices available to them because the dentists at the practice took time to explain treatments to them.

One patient said, "I have been coming here for years. The dentist is great, communication is good, and the dental nurse and reception staff are excellent".

Another patient said, "I have never had any problems, I have always been scared of the dentist, but coming here has helped a lot".

We found that the practice provided clear information for people to make informed choices about their care. We found that the practice had clear procedures to ensure that people's safety and welfare were protected.
